Protection of Quran
Allah has promised to protect Quran as it is until the judgment day. The main two ways for its protection are:

By heart
In shape of Book

By heart:
Quran is mainly protected by the heart. During the time of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w), as soon a revelation used to come, the companion of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) used to remember all of it by heart. Then they used to verify it, by repeating it in front of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w). The revelation on Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) was completed in 23 years (approximately) so that he and his companions can easily remember and spread it. Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) also ordered to start teaching of Quran in all mosques, and even some houses were also made Quranic Schools. And further more, different companions were sent to different distant parts of the world too, for spreading Quran, and Allah's message.
A separate area near Mosque Nabawi was dedicated to the teaching of Quran. Where students from all over the world used to gather and stay there all the time, studying Quran. This is why that from the very beginning every Muslim Woman and man preferred to learn Quran by heart. And for the very same reason Quran is without any single change.

In shape of Book:
Majority of the Arabs where unable to read or write, from the very start of the Islam. Neither there was any scholar nor there was any equipment to make one. Only 17 people knew how to read and write in Makkah and fortunately they became Muslims in very beginning. This is also the same reason the Quran's process of being written was started at very early stage. As the paper was not used at that time, Camels' shoulder's broad bone, plates of different things, thin white marble sills, leather pieces etc were used to write Quranic scripts on it. During the time of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w), Quran was not modified into any specific book, like it is today.
